Reading the Book of Romans

Spirit Breakfast 31/3/2021 Bible Passage: Romans 2:6-13 (The Passion Translation) 6 For: He will give to each one in return for what he has done. 7 For those living in constant goodness and doing what pleases him, seeking an unfading glory and honor and imperishable virtue, will experience eternal life.  8 But those governed by selfishness and self-promotion, whose hearts are unresponsive to God’s truth and would rather embrace unrighteousness, will experience the fullness of wrath. 9 Anyone who does evil can expect tribulation and distress—to the Jew first and also to the non-Jew.  10 But when we do what pleases God, we can expect unfading glory, true honor, and a continual peace—to the Jew first and also to the non-Jew, 11 for God sees us all without partiality. 12 When people who have never been exposed to the laws of Moses commit sin, they will still perish for what they do. And those who are under the law of Moses and fail to obey it are condemned by the law.  ...

Spirit Breakfast 30/3/2021 Bible Passage: Romans 2:1-5 (The Passion Translation) God Judges Sin 1. No matter who you are, before you judge the wickedness of others, you had better remember this: you are also without excuse, for you too are guilty of the same kind of things! When you judge others, and then do the same things they do, you condemn yourself.  2 We know that God’s judgment falls upon those who practice these things. God is always right, because he has all the facts.  3. And no matter who you think you are, when you judge others who do these things and then do the same things yourself, what makes you think that you will escape God’s judgment? 4. Do the riches of his extraordinary kindness make you take him for granted and despise him? Haven’t you experienced how kind and understanding he has been to you? Don’t mistake his tolerance for acceptance. Do you realize that all the wealth of his extravagant kindness is meant to melt your heart and lead you into repentance?...

Spirit Breakfast 29/3/2021 Bible Passage: Romans 1:26-32 (The Passion Translation) 26–27 For this reason God gave them over to their own disgraceful and vile passions. Enflamed with lust for one another, men and women ignored the natural order and exchanged normal sexual relations for homosexuality. Women engaged in lesbian conduct, and men committed shameful acts with men, receiving in themselves the due penalty for their deviation. 28 And because they thought it was worthless to embrace the true knowledge of God, God gave them over to a worthless mind-set, to break all rules of proper conduct.  29 Their sinful lives became full of every kind of evil, wicked schemes, greed, and cruelty. Their hearts overflowed with jealous cravings, and with conflict and strife, which drove them into hateful arguments and murder. They are deceitful liars full of hostility. They are gossips  30 who love to spread malicious slander. With inflated egos they hurl hateful insults at God, yet they ...

Spirit Breakfast 26/3/2021 Bible Passage: Romans 1:21-25 (The Passion Translation)   21 Throughout human history the fingerprints of God were upon them, yet they refused to honor him as God or even be thankful for his kindness. Instead, they entertained corrupt and foolish thoughts about what God was like. This left them with nothing but misguided hearts, steeped in moral darkness.  22 Although claiming to be super-intelligent, they were in fact shallow fools.  23 For only a fool would trade the unfading splendor of the immortal God to worship the fading image of other humans, idols made to look like people, animals, birds, and even creeping reptiles! 24 This is why God lifted off his restraining hand and let them have full expression of their sinful and shameful desires. They were given over to moral depravity, dishonoring their bodies by sexual perversion among themselves—  25 all because they traded the truth of God for a lie. They worshiped and served the things ...

Spirit Breakfast 24/3/2021 Bible Passage: Romans 1:16-20 (The Passion Translation) 16 I refuse to be ashamed of sharing the wonderful message of God’s liberating power unleashed in us through Christ! For I am thrilled to preach that everyone who believes is saved—the Jew first, and then people everywhere!  17 This gospel unveils a continual revelation of God’s righteousness—a perfect righteousness given to us when we believe. And it moves us from receiving life through faith, to the power of living by faith. This is what the Scripture means when it says: “We are right with God through life-giving faith!” 18 For God in heaven unveils his holy anger breaking forth against every form of sin, both toward ungodliness that lives in hearts and evil actions. For the wickedness of humanity deliberately smothers the truth and keeps people from acknowledging the truth about God.  19 In reality, the truth of God is known instinctively, for God has embedded this knowledge inside every huma...

Spirit Breakfast 23/3/2021 Bible Passage: Romans 1:2-6 (The Passion Translation) 2. My commission is to preach the good news. Yet it is not entirely new, but the fulfillment of the hope promised to us through the many prophecies found in the sacred Scriptures.  3 For the gospel is all about God’s Son. As a man he descended from David’s royal lineage,  4 but as the mighty Son of God he was raised from the dead and miraculously set apart with a display of triumphant power supplied by the Spirit of Holiness. And now Jesus is our Lord and our Messiah.  5 Through him a joy-producing grace cascaded into us, empowering us with the gift of apostleship, so that we can win people from every nation into a faithful commitment to Jesus, to bring honor to his name.  6 And you are among the chosen ones who received the call to belong to Jesus, the Anointed One. Prayer: Henceforth, your head will not lack the oil of God's anointing in Jesus name.  Stay Graced... #spiritbreakfas...

Success by Design and Purpose

Image
Spirit Breakfast 19/3/2021 Proverbs 19:21 (The Passion Translation ) A person may have many ideas concerning God’s plan for his life, but only the designs of his purpose will succeed in the end. The uniqueness of each human on the face of the Earth is simply a work of art by God. It shows the time and effort He put in to fashion and design us the way we are.  It is because of this unqiue design we have different purposes (functions) to fulfil on the earth. And you cannot accomplish success  by trying to be like others.  God designed you uniquely, embrace it, and make something beautiful out of it. Celebrate and showcase your strengths while improving your weaknesses.  True success can be attained but only when you stick to the design of your purpose.  I pray that your life will be filled with so much joy and laughter. Stay Graced... #spiritbreakfast™ #pastormuve™ #overcome #iovercome #backtobethel #success #design #unique #purpose #life #God

Secured Future

Image
Spirit Breakfast 17/3/2021 Anchor Text: Psalms 16:9 (The Passion Translation) Within your heart you can make plans for your future,  but the Lord chooses the steps you take to get there. Every man wishes he knows the details of what happens tomorrow, but as the popular saying goes; "No one knows tomorrow". While man may not know what tomorrow will bring, God does. While we may fret and make all the plans for our tomorrow and future, God works behind the scenes to ensure our future security.  Isn't it amazing that despite the mistakes of genuine believers, they still end up being achievers? This is because their trust God orders their steps and causes all things to work out for their good. For every child of God, here's a word of encouragement for you; your Father and God has made too much of an investment for your future security through Jesus. Therefore your future is secured.  You don't have to worry no more. Trust in God's faithfulness to bring you into p...

Pour your worries on God

Image
Spirit Breakfast 16/3/2021 Anchor Text: 1 Peter 5:7 (The Passion Translation) Pour out all your worries and stress upon him and leave them there, for he always tenderly cares for you.  In light of the global and national happenings, it isn't strange for many to fall into worry. Many are stressed out as a result of the many challenges we face.  However, as believers we have someone upon whom we can pour out our worries and stress on. Our heavenly Father is always ready to bear our burdens because of His immense care for us.  Are you worried? Are you stressed? Go before your Father and tell Him as it is. Pour it put completely until there's nothing left.  Your Father and God will surely give you comfort. Have a victorious day... #spiritbreakfast™ #pastormuve™ #overcome #iovercome #backtobethel #worry #worries #stress #anxiety #problem #challenge #burden #toughtime #God #Jesus #father #care #love

Maintaining Intimacy with the Spirit in a Busy World (XIII)

Spirit Breakfast 11/3/2021 Text: Ephesians 5:18 (New Living Translation) Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit. Continued from last time... How to practise making Melody in the heart... The first thing one needs to understand is that Melody is birthed by the Spirit and not by one's conscious will. It is given rather than forced.  That's one difference between Melody and songs which include spiritual songs.  You can decide to sing any song including one you had received a while ago from the Spirit at any time.  However, when it comes to making Melody, it is usually given at the spur of the moment. It is not rehearsed, it is not thought of, it just flows.  It flows out of the abundance of one's heart connection to the Spirit. It is manifested as a result of one's desire to be closer to the Spirit of God.  Hence, Melody only becomes a reality in the lives of believers who have made themselves free with t...

Spirit Breakfast 8/3/2021 Text: Ephesians 5:18 (New Living Translation) Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit. Continued from last time... How does making Melody in the heart help one to maintain stillness? Although Melody is manifested through sounds and hums, the initial origin is in the heart.  The heart is the centre of a man's being. It is the source from which all that a man is originates from.  No wonder Proverbs 23:7 says "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he..." Proverbs 4:23 also says: "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."  In other words, the products of your life come from your heart, thereofe the heart must be diligently guarded and kept.  The heart is responsible for dictating so many things including the stillness of one's soul. When we talked about meditation, we said meditation helps you to hide God's word in your heart. The target o...

Spirit Breakfast 5/3/2021 Text: Ephesians 5:18 (New Living Translation) Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit. Continued from yesterday ... What is the meaning of making melody in the heart? This refers to the internal state of a person's heart. Such a person is in sync and in tune with the frequency of the Spirit.  To make melody in the heart is to release a spirital sound received from heaven. This is different from singing and even different from spiritual songs which is mentioned earlier in the verse (Ephesians 5:19). Notice that it says "...making melody in your heart to the Lord." Hence, it shows that the recipient of our melody is the Lord. Therefore, making melody is a deeper form of spiritual worship. It is in most cases inarticulate because it is a product of the Holy Spirit helping our weaknesses. Hence, just like we groan in prayer, melody come in form of hums and sounds.  It is also personal becaus...

Spirit Breakfast 4/3/2021 Text: Ephesians 5:18 (New Living Translation) Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit. Continued from last time ... Apart from meditation which we've already discussed, we said that the second way to maintain stillness is to make melody in our hearts.  Believers are instructed to do this in Ephesians 5:19 and apart from being a way to maintain stillness it is a way to stay filled with the Spirit. Now what does making melody in our hearts mean? How does making melody in our heart helps us maintain stillness? How does one make a practise of this biblical instruction? The following questions will serve as our outline as we progress tomorrow by God's Grace... I pray that God will send me daily to help you as He did for David in Jesus name.
