Topic: Love Not The World
Text: 1 John 2:15
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
John the Apostle had a personal relationship with Jesus during His time here on Earth.
The relationship was so deep that he was referred to as "the beloved" of Jesus.
Therefore, he understood what it means to love Jesus and be loved by Jesus.
In his epistle, he decides to speak a great deal about love. Love is one of the major themes of this apostle. So much so it earned him the nickname 'The Apostle of love"
John submission is that anyone who loves the world does not have the love of the Father. Which is why he encouraged the believers no to love the world, nor the things in it.
Sadly, many believers have not only fallen in love with the world, but have laid in bed with the world. This is the tragedy of the 21st century church.
The Greek word which is translated as the "world" is "kosmos". The base idea/meaning of the word is "order" or "arrangement".
Jesus called Satan the "prince of this world" (John 14:30) and he is called the "god of this world" in 2 Corinthians 4:4.
This was why he could ask Jesus to bow down to him in exchange for the kingdoms of this world. (Matthew 4:8)
Notice he said "kingdoms of this world" not "kingdom of the Earth". Satan does not own or rule the Earth. The Earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof (Psalms 24:1).
The Earth is the physical planet upon which we live. The world, however, is the order or arrangement that runs the Earth.
In computing terms, the Earth is the hardware, while the world is the operating system of the Earth.
This became a reality when Adam ceded the original operating system which was running the Earth to Satan when he willfully disobeyed God's instructions.
Hence, Satan became the prince and the god of this world.
The word 'prince' conotes rulership and there can be no rulership without order.
The word 'god' implies having control. And there is no control without arrangement and organization.
Therefore, the world, the operating system is anti-christ. Not only is it against the rules of Christ, it seeks to replace the rule of Christ.
That's why the god of this world blinds the minds of many not to see the light of the Gospel of Christ (2 Corinthians 4:4).
If the world seeks to dethrone Christ rule, then a believer in Christ is to stand and reject any sort of affiliation with the world.
It will always be 'us versus them'. So John said in 1 John 4:4: 'Greater is He that is us, than he that is in the world'
Jesus said, "If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." (John 15:19).
Therefore, believers though we are in the world, do not belong to it and as such, we shouldn't love anything about it.
James said in James 4:4
"Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God."
Loving the world is spiritual adultery against the husband of the Church; Jesus.
It is the same perverseness the children of Israel exhibited that brought their destruction.
We're in the last days and the spirit of perverseness has been released to influence many.
It is impossible to serve God and Mammon (which is actually one of the orders of this world).
'Love not the world' is the cry of the Spirit to the church.
Why do we desire the things of the world? Where has the love of the Father in us gone?
'Love not the world' is the cry of the Spirit to the church.
Why are we no longer sanctified and separate unto our Redeemer? Why do we seek to be like other nations of the world?
We've been loved with an everlasting love by the Lord. All He wants is our devoted love. But, we're sharing it with the abominations of Babylon.
'Love not the world' is the cry of the Spirit to the church.
Believers no longer look like Christ. How did Zion become the ground of idolatry and sacrifices to Baal?
The Spirit and the Bride are no longer connected. Because the Bride no longer recognizes the Lordship of the Spirit. Hence, the One who quickened us cannot come.
It takes the Bride who is solely joined to the Spirit of Christ to herald the coming of the true King.
Oh how the Spirit longs for the fellowship, He once had with the Bride. Alas, the Bride has gone after other lovers and left her true Love.
Return, return o Bride of Christ. Return to your first Love. Return to the One who has called you from darkness.
Love not the world thou Bride of Christ. That together with the Spirit you might usher in the reign of Christ.
Love Him fervently. Love Him absolutely. Love Him passionately. Love your King and Redeemer.
Return from those things that have lured you from absolute Love of your Husband.
Love not the world church...love not the world!
