Maintaining Intimacy with the Spirit in a Busy World (IV)

Spirit Breakfast 15/2/2021

Text: Ephesians 5:18 (New Living Translation)

Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.

The major method of staying continuously filled with the Holy Spirit is to maintain a lifestyle of prayer. Yes, we can't stop talking about prayer.

The custom of a pious Jew was to pray three times a day.

This prayer was meant to sustain the connection and a show of allegiance to Yahweh.

Hence, Daniel refused the king's decree and still prayed three times a day. This was a prove of his allegiance to Yahweh and no other god or king.

In the New Testament however, Paul the Apostle tells us that a believer in Christ is to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

The reason is because prayer helps to sustain and maintain the level of the Holy Spirit within us.

Hence, Paul says prayer must be without ceasing to ensure that at no point in time do we experience a reduction in Spirit level.

The challenge as we have established is how to sustain a life of ceaseless prayer even while busy all through the day.

The first way to achieving a lifestyle of ceaseless prayer is to develop a still spirit.

What is a still spirit? By God's Grace we'll explain that tomorrow.

I pray that this day will not disobey the words you

decree over it in Jesus name.

Have a graced day...
