Theme:   The Advocate that cannot be Denied Anchor Text:  Jeremiah 15:1 New Living Translation Then the lord said to me, “Even if Moses and Samuel stood before me pleading for these people, I wouldn’t help them. Away with them! Get them out of my sight! An advocate is anyone who argues the case of another; also known as an intercessor. An advocate's purpose is to plead and make a case that is otherwise unfavourable for a person become favourable. He seeks to bring mercy and pardon that a person deserves in place of judgement. In our anchor text, the children of the southern kingdom of Judah were so far gone in idolatry as led by their king Manasseh. The wickedness of Manasseh was so much that he built idol altars in the temple of God and also sacrificied his son in fire. 2 Kings 21:1–18 and 2 Chronicles 32:33–33:2 has the accounts of Manasseh. The iniqiuites of Manasseh and the people of Judah was so much that his wickedness was likened to the wickedness of ...

Theme:   Complete Obedience: Requirement for Success  Anchor Text:  Joshua 11:15 _ As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses. _ One of the most successful period the Israelites ever had in their history as a nation was under Joshua's leadership. In fact most theologians and bible scholars refer to the book of Joshua as a book of success. While the book of Judges is a start contrast as it records a lot of failures of the Israelites as a nation. Remember what the Lord Himself told Joshua in Chapter 1 verse 8? 'This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. '  That verse is an indication that success was foremost in the mind of God whe...

Theme:   Eyes Have Seen, Ears Have Heard, the Mind Has Imagined  Anchor Text:  1 Corinthians 2:9-13 [9]But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. [10]But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. [11]For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. [12]Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. [13]Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. It is quite common for believers in Christ to quote 1 Corinthians 2:9 when we're trying to encourage others about the greatness of ...

Theme:   Remaining in the Love of Christ  Anchor Text:  John 15:9&10 New Living Translation 15:9 “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. 15:10 When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. Yeah we're just getting off the euphoria of yesterday's valentine celebration: the day dedicated to love. Well I know some people are still high on it anyway...hey snap out of it! Let's get real shall we? It's not about the glitz, glamour and what have you that's carried out on a particular day that matters. What matters most is what happens after that lovely day. Just like it's not what happens on a wedding day that really matters, but what happens after the wedding in the marriage itself. It is not just about what happened to you as a believer in Christ Jesus on that happy day when Jesus washed your sins away but what happens consequently after tha...

Theme:   A new heart: Primary criteria for signs  Anchor Text:  1 Samuel 10:9 [9]And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day. The Christian faith is no ordinary movement. The Christian faith is one that is supernaturally Divine and fully endowed with supernatural signs. And every believer in Christ Jesus is well aware of this. To this end, we yearn, desire and pray for the manifestation of signs in the body of Christ and extending to the world at large. So we organise revivals, conventions, conferences etc so that the move of the Lord might be felt and signs may be seen. However, if the fundamental is not in place, it results in futility. How often have we prayed for release of the mighty signs of God as seen in the days of the apostles and even in previous moves of God in years past, yet it seems that mighty manifestation of signs is eluding our generation. W...

Theme:   Born of God  Anchor Text:  John 1:12-13 [12]But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: [13]Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. The family to which a person is born into in most cases determines their social status. During the era when royalties and nobilities were really a thing, a person's house mattered a lot. The difference between the highborns (royalties and nobilities) and the lowborns (common folk) was quite clear. The birth of a prince is very much celebrated, whereas little or no one cares about the birth of a child from the common people. The Almighty, the Creator of heaven and Earth and all that there is, is the Majesty other majesties look up to. His Kingdom is eternal and great beyond comprehension. He has a family with children that are His; who aren't princes but kings. And the difference between Hi...

Theme:   Free Food, Wine and Milk   Anchor Text:  Isaiah 55:1-2 New Living Translation 55:1  “Is anyone thirsty?     Come and drink—     even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk—     it’s all free!  55:2 Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength?     Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good.     You will enjoy the finest food. How would you feel if you walked into a 5-star restaurant and the waiter tells you that everything on the menu is absolutely free and you don't have to pay a dime? I'm pretty sure you'll eat as much as you can and even go home with a basketful if you could find one. But what if I told you, that such opportunity has already been given to you? What if I told you that the greatest Chef of all time has prepared a menu th...

Theme:   You don't have to prove yourself Anchor Text:  Luke 4:9 New Living Translation Then the devil took him to Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off!  From the time we are born into this world, there is this kind of unspoken need for us to prove ourselves to others. As kids we try to prove ourselves to our parents, our friends in school and teachers. As we get older, the pressure is there for us to prove ourselves to our bosses at work, our spouse at home, and with social media today; we try to prove ourselves to the whole world. This has put us in an unnecessary competition with others because we seek validation and don't want to feel like we aren't meeting the standards set by others. Jesus' temptation on the mountain was basically Satan asking Him to prove that He was who He said He was. Twice he told him: 'If you are the son of God...'  He was the Son of God already, He didn...

Theme:   Your Inherent Power Level Defines Your Glory Level   Anchor Text:  Mark 13:26 King James Version And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. Glory is desired by most of us. We seek dignity, honour and even praise that is worthy of a successful life. Yet as believers we don't seek it the wrong way like others do. The anchor text says when Jesus returns He will be coming in both power and glory. Is there a relationship between this two amazing words and concept? If so how are they related? I'll try to explain it as best as I can... 1 Corinthians 15:41 says _ 'There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.' _ This means that the level of glory displayed be it Divine, human or even created things differ. Why is there such difference? Using stars to illustrate, we know that _ 'stars shine becaus...

Theme:   Joy: The Spiritual water-drawing equipment  Anchor Text:  Isaiah 12:1-3 King James Version [1]And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me. [2]Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. [3]Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. Most of us don't seem to understand why after we've given our lives to Christ Jesus we still don't enjoy that satisfaction we were told of can be found in Jesus. That satisfaction that ultimately quenches our thirst; that makes us stop looking for other wells of satisfaction. Like Jesus told the Samaritan woman in John 4:14: 'But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst;thirst...' The answer can be found in our anchor text. It is an explanation of our ...

Theme:  It isn't about talking. Anchor Text:  1 Corinthians 4:20 New Living Translation For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power. In the days when the Bible was exclusive to the clergy and few nobles but not in the hands of the general public, only the priests had the privilege of interpreting and explaining the scriptures. Fast forward to our present time with the help of technological advancements which started with the printing press' invention in 1436 by Johann Gutenberg and the selfless sacrifice of men such as William Tyndale and Martin Luther to ensure that all echelons of society have equal access to the Bible has made the Bible accessible to all. The Christian faith has experienced amazing increase of those who believe in the Lord Jesus and the kingdom is advancing. With this onward increase one thing has also been on a steady increase which is 'knowledge'.  Daniel 12:4 '...even to the time of the en...

Theme : His Will not your works  Anchor Text: Matthew 7:21-23 [21]Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. [22]Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? [23]And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. It is quite common to see a good number of belivers involved and engaged in a lot of good works. After all Jesus Himself said in Matthew 5:16 ' Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.' So  we preach the gospel, prophesy, cast out devils, organize concerts and seminars, have amazing outreaches, etc and we feel amazing because we just did God's work and we've been busy for Him. However, the truth is once His Will isn...
