Spirit Breakfast π☕ 15/7/2019
Theme: Guarding your progress (part 11)
Anchor Text: Nehemiah 4:11-23
Subtext: Ephesians 6:13-18
Continued from the last post on this series
Ephesians 6:14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.
The Belt of Truth
Like I said in the last post that the Roman belt held the soldier's sword in place.
Another function of the belt of truth as an important weapon that comprises the whole armour of God is that it allows us to hold and wield the sword of the spirit properly.
Paul spoke to Timothy and said: "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
We need to understand that the word of truth is also the same as the sword of the spirit which is the Word of God. Now if the Apostle charged his son in Christ to rightly divide the word of God, therefore there is a wrong way of dividing the word of God.
Dividing the word of God here means correctly interpreting and understanding the word of God. And this is essential for anyone who wants to guard his progress.
Let us come to the understanding that God will only back that which He has told us in His words. Anything outside of that provision means we're engaging in our own personal mission.
Since the belt of truth helps us in right interpretation of God's word, how does it come into play while we guard the progress we've made in life?
The answer to that is: "It is only right application of the word that brings about victory." If your understanding of God's word is flawed and not true, then the victory is not guaranteed.
We'll talk more on this when we discuss the Sword of the Spirit.
I pray for you in this new week that increase will be your daily experience in Jesus name.
