Spirit Breakfast π☕ 24/7/2019
Theme: Guarding your progress (part 15)
Anchor Text: Nehemiah 4:11-23
Subtext: Ephesians 6:13-18
Continued from the last post on this series
Ephesians 6:14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.
The Body armour (breastplate) of God's Righteousness.
Further backing that reveals to us why our hearts must be full of righteousness is given by our Lord Jesus Himself.
He said in Luke 6:45: "The upright (honorable, intrinsically good) man out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart produces what is upright (honorable and intrinsically good), and the evil man out of the evil storehouse brings forth that which is depraved (wicked and intrinsically evil); for out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart his mouth speaks." (Amplified Bible)
First, we understand from this that the heart is a storehouse. The content of what is stored in it is dependent on what kind of storehouse it is.
If it is a righteous heart, only righteous content will be stored therein. If the heart is depraved, then only depraved contents are stored in it.
It is never a mixture of both. James said '...no fountain can yield both salt water and fresh' (James 3:12)
The second thing we get from the statement of the Master is that the product from the heart is always the same as the content of the heart.
Lastly, we discover that the mouth will also speak that which is the content of the heart.
He said out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. In other words, you only speak that which is predominant in your heart.
Your words are always an overflow of your heart's content.
Question is are your words a reflection of righteousness? Are your words in right standing with God's standard?
That is where we'll continue our discourse from tomorrow by God's Grace.
