Theme: Guarding your progress (part 13)

Anchor Text: Nehemiah 4:11-23

Subtext: Ephesians 6:13-18

Continued from the last post on this series

Ephesians 6:14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness.

The Body armour (breastplate) of God's Righteousness.

Let's begin with what righteousness is. Without going into long theological discussion, righteousness simply means 'right standing'.

Righteousness is based on a standard. This standard is from and of God who is Righteous.

Righteousness is being right according to God's standard. 

Hence, man's attempt at righteousness ends up in futility. So the prophet Isaiah said '...we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;...' (Isaiah 64:6)

Therefore no matter how good a man might be, he is not righteous. For this reason he must seek to obtain righteousness from a standard that God deems righteous.

Jesus is the personification of righteousness made flesh. 1 John 1:2 calls Him 'The Righteous'. Hence God looks at Jesus as the perfect example of righteousness a man can attain.

This is why our righteousness is in Jesus. Our righteousness is not ours or what we generate. Rather our righteousness is imputed.

Imputed means it wasn't originally ours, but it was accounted and ascribed to us.

For he has made him, who knew no sin, to be sin for us; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2 Corinthians 5:21 King James 2000 Bible)

Therefore we can boldly attest and affirm that we are righteous. Our righteousness not by our ability but the imputed righteousness of Jesus.

Theme: My God: My Shepherd Anchor Text: Psalms 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. The 23rd Psalm is one of the most well known passages of the Bible. The description is so vivid and real that it is certain that the one who wrote this understood and must have an in-depth experience concerning that which he wrote. Topic: Love Not The World Text: 1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him . John the Apostle had a personal relationship with Jesus during His time here on Earth. The relationship was so deep that he was referred to as "the beloved" of Jesus. Therefore, he understood what it means to love Jesus and be loved by Jesus. In his epistle, he decides to speak a great deal about love. Love is one of the major themes of this apostle. So much so it earned him the nickname 'The Apostle of love" John submission is that anyone who loves the world does not have the love of the Father. Which is why he encouraged the believers no to love the world, nor the things in it. Sadly, many believers have not only fallen in love with the world, but have laid in bed with the world. Theme: Isaiah 43:18-21 interpreted in relation to  Salvation. (Pt 11) Sub Theme: All will Honour God Anchor Text: Isaiah 43:20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. Based on our anchor text, we discover that the reason the beast of the field, dragons and the owls would honour God was because He gave waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Like we have established already that the Holy Spirit is the One who causes waters in the wilderness (salvation) and rivers to flow in the desert (Holy Spirit baptism). These creatures mentioned weren't physical rather they were spiritual entities. They were the demonic forces that try to oppose God's rule on Earth.
