Text: Isaiah 40:31

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

"The vulture is a patient bird" is the title of a James Hadley Chase novel originally published in 1969. The phrase was also used by a group of occultic ritualists as a mantra in a Nollywood movie in the 90s.

Patience is a virtue readily associated with the vulture. But most people do not consider this to be an attribute of an eagle.

However, patience is an attribute shared by these two large birds although the vulture is the more patient one.

The eagle is a patient bird. This is seen in the eagle's ability to stay still at a top spot while its eyes searches to and fro for its next prey.

An eagle will not just launch out or make a dive without a target. Even when it is in the sky, the eagle will maintain a gliding position for a long time until it sights a prey.

This is patience being manifested while it waits as the eagle trusts in the benelovence of the creator to provide its prey by causing one to come within its line of sight.

Patience is an essential neccessity in the art of waiting. We must develop this very important virtue. Going out with haste to carry out a plan is a sign that we don't understand how to wait.

While we wait on God to show us the place where our next provision lies, we must also master the character of patience.

James 1:4 says "But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."

The reason many aren't perfect and entire and wanting nothing is they are yet to allow patience have her perfect work.

Those who wait on the Lord aren't impatient. Time doesn't bother them for they understand that God makes everything beautiful in its time.

“Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.” ~ Joyce Meyer
