Text: Proverbs 29:18

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

There is no way we can talk about the eagle without talking about its vision. The eagle has the best eyesight of all creatures on planet Earth.

It is not even a contest when compared to the eyesight of humans. Any of the 59 species of eagle on the planet will put a human's eyesight to shame.

An eagle can see about 4 to 8 times better than a human being. It can locate a rabbit or any small creature 2 miles away while flying at a distance of 650km above the ground.

Eagles do not generally suffer from  refractive error which include near-sightedness, far-sightedness, etc. and an adult eagle can clearly see fish in a river.

While moving towards it's prey, the muscles in the eye will continue to adjust its focus naturally. Therefore, the distance between it and the prey doesn't change the focus at any time.

An eagle can use each eye independently and have 340 degrees field of vision compared to our own 180 degrees.

The images captured in an eagle's eye are of high resolution and color quality. They can even see in UV ray light which allows them to track the urine line of a prey.

Unlike humans, eagles have 3 eyelids that protect their eyes. The inner eyelid is a translucent membrane that keeps the eyes protected from debris etc. while it's flying without affecting its acute eyesight.

The eyesight of an eagle is so important that if it has any issue with its eyes, it is equal to death. This is because it won't be able to hunt.

The eagle depends on the power of sight so much that it lacks acute sense of hearing, smell, and taste. So the scripture text above is so accurate that where vision is missing, people perish.

From tomorrow, we'll glean practical lessons from the facts we've shared above.

"The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision" ~ Helen Keller
