*Spirit Breakfast* 🍞☕ _7th March 2019_

*Theme:* *Grace Produces Works*

*Anchor Text:* 1 Corinthians 15:10 Amplified Bible
_[10]But by the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not [found to be] for nothing (fruitless and without effect). In fact, I worked harder than all of them [the apostles], though it was not really I, but the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God which was with me._

Grace had been defined by most people as unmerited or undeserved favour which is so true. Grace is not worked for, it is received. Grace is imparted not earned.

Therefore due to this truth, a lot of people feel Grace and Works have nothing in common. So when Works are mentioned a good number of people feel 'o that's Old Testament'. This isn't true.

We must understand this before I go in-depth explaining it: *'Grace imparted will always produces works*

Paul the apostle in the anchor text was a man that was an epitome of God's extravagant Grace. His conversion to Christ was simply a product of the unmerited favour in excess. The gifts he manifested also attests to this ostentatious flow of Grace from above. The wealth of revelation and wisdom He received supports the truth that Grace was truly at work in His life.

Yet, what did Paul do with this Grace? Paul said He worked. The amount of Grace upon and within Him drove Him to work far beyond what any of the other apostles did. The Grace he received didn't make him lazy or arrogant, rather it made him extremely hardworking and humble as a servant. Paul's work rate as an apostle was second to none.

Transversing Europe and Asia minor with the gospel of Christ, this Grace-filled Apostle was a tireless worker. So when Grace comes upon a man, that man receives the ability to work. This is not a function of the person's ability but the grace at work in him.

The early church was lavished with Great Grace and this made them tireless in propagating the gospel of Jesus. Daily expansion and increase was the product of the Great Grace.

Jesus the ONE who is our perfect example is described as 'full of Grace' (John 1:14) Yet, Jesus was a hard worker. He said _'I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.'_ (John 9:4)

Jesus was conscious of the fact that work must be done. He knew that the deposit of God's Grace in His life can't be wasted. Grace makes you conscious of the fact that your assignment and purpose in life must be fulfilled. This would ultimately keep you on your toes. It is what keeps you outstanding among your peers because you realize that God requires a lot from you.

The balance here is that the Grace upon and within a man is what is at work and not even the person's effort. However, if you don't yield to the working power of Grace in you, it could remain dormant. *Grace doesn't make one lazy, rather it makes one active.*
