*Spirit Breakfast* 🍞☕ _15th March 2019_

*Theme:* *Anointed to Act*

*Anchor Text:" Luke 4:18-19
_[18]The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,_
_[19]To preach the acceptable year of the Lord._

Jesus gave us an understanding as to how the anointing functions.

First of all, the anointing is a product of the Holy Spirit coming upon a person. That is why *the effectiveness of a man's anointing is dependent on the relationship he has with the Holy Spirit.*

David understood the implication of losing the Holy Spirit so he begged that the Holy Spirit shouldn't be taken away from him. He had first hand encounter of what happens to one who is anointed but loses the Holy Spirit; in the life of Saul.

Second thing we glean from our anchor text is that when the anointing comes, it causes us to act. Jesus said that the anointing upon Him enables Him to preach, heal, deliver, recover and set free.

God doesn't just anoint a man so he can simply call himself anointed. God anoints so that a man might carry out certain actions that will ultimately work out God's eternal plan upon the earth.

Samuel told Saul _"At that time the Spirit of the lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them. You will be changed into a different person. After these signs take place, do what must be done, for God is with you"_ (1 Samuel 10:6&7)

In essence Samuel was telling Saul that when the anointing comes you are to act. The King James Version says _'...do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.'_

And the time and occasion presented itself in chapter 11 of 1 Samuel that Nahash the Ammonite threatend the men of Jabesh. The Bible says of Saul in verse 6-7
_[6]And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly._
_[7]And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the LORD fell on the people, and they came out with one consent._

Imediately the Spirit of God came upon him, it spurred him to action. You can't have the Holy Spirit, anointed and yet inactive doing nothing. The anointing doesn't come upon a man to be kept in a jar. *Any reserved anointing will get stale* It is to be used constantly, it must continuously flow out; for out of your belly shall flow rivers of living waters.

So don't shy away from opportunities to showcase the anointing.
If you've been anoitned to preach, don't shy away from opportunities to preach. Even if it was impromptu as far as the Lord permits you to do so.
If you are anointed to sing, don't give up an opportunity when it is presented.
If you are anointed to lead, don't pass on leadership roles to others. Accept it.
If your are anointed in the art of business, act accordingly.
If you're specially Graced and anointed to give, please don't get weary.
In whatever capacity you've been anointed for, don't give up opportunities to act.

God has anointed you, and he expects you to act. *GOD would have been disappointed if David failed to kill Goliath; because David had what it took to do so*

Stay Graced...
