Theme: Speak Out

Anchor Text: Numbers 27:1-7
[1]Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.
[2]And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
[3]Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.
[4]Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.
[5]And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.
[6]And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[7]The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

To Speak out means to assert or promote one's opinion; to make one's thoughts known.

Certain erroneous teachings have made certain Christians timid and unable to speak out. When they are wronged or deprived of that which belongs to them; they keep quiet.  Some feel timidity and meekness are the same thing. That's not true for the righteous are bold as a lion.

These people quote the words of the Master saying: "But I say, do not resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also." Reading the whole text contextually, you'll discover Jesus was teaching us not be vengeful. Don't retaliate to the evil done against you. It did not restrain us from speaking out.

The daughters of Zolephehad saw what was wrong and spoke out concerning it. They were to be left with no inheritance because their father had no sons. This seemed fair but they didn't feel it was.

Speaking out against injustice, evil and everything that's not right which can deprive us of that which God has purposed for us is important. The truth is certain possessions and inheritances will continuously elude us until we speak out.

Speaking out doesn't mean one is rude. How should one speak out?
1. Speaking out should be done politely. Your choice of words should be gentle and not sound like one who is angry.
2. When speaking out, address the issue and not the person who caused the issue. These ladies didn't attack Moses that he didn't give them an inheritance rather they addressed the matter.
3. State facts when speaking out.
4. Appeal to the conscience of the person listening to you that they should see things from your perspective. The fact is that sometimes those in leadership positions might not see things the way those at the base level do. So reconcile these dispariny views when you speak out.

Due to these ladies ability to speak out other ladies who were in similar situations also got inheritances. If they had kept quiet it wouldn't have happened. It was as if God was waiting for someone to say something about the matter.

God is about to make new decrees and laws for your sake as you speak out in Jesus name.
