Theme: Isaiah 43:18-21 interpreted in relation to Salvation. (Pt 3)
Sub Theme: A New Thing (pt 2)
Anchor Text: Isaiah 43:18
43:18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
2 Corinthians 5:17
[17]Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
We can easily notice the parallel between these scriptures. Both mention the doing away of the old and replacing with the new.
Christ came to give us newness of life. The old system and pattern set up after the fall of amn needed to be done away with. In order to do that man had to forget that system entirely. That mode of operation needed to be discarded and forgotten.
However, this wasn't possible if the old still remained. It needed a complete overhaul. This is what Christ came to do. He brought in the new to replace the old.
It is only when the new comes will the old be forgotten. Therefore, a natural man cannot forget or let go of bad and sinful habits because newness has not come.
The creation of a new thing within us marks the beginning of our Salvation and our walk with God.
