Theme: Isaiah 43:18-21 interpreted in relation to  Salvation. (Pt 6)
Sub Theme: Rivers in the Desert (pt 3)

Anchor Text: Isaiah 43:18&19
Reference Text: John 4:7-15

Some of us are familiar with the story in John 4:7-15. This story bears similarities with that in Genesis 24:17-24 when Abraham's servant went in search of a wife for Isaac. (That's another discussion for another day)

What we discover here in the book of John is that Jesus initiates this conversation. He asked her to give him water to drink. This is very vital because if you don't recognize your spiritual condition, it becomes difficult for you to desire salvation.

Since she felt she had water to give, she felt fine, she felt she even could deny the Master the water he sought for without knowing she was actually dry. The same goes for those still without Christ.

Jesus therefore had to make her see her dry state that was lacking the water that makes deserts full of rivers. He stated that He had living water. Meaning what tthe woman had was dead water that could only bring dryness. He called this living water the gift of God

The fact that salvation is the gift is corroborated by Ephesians 2:8. It says "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;" Therefore it is not worked for, neither is it earned. Rather it is given.

Jesus is the bringer of this gift and is in fact the gift as well. For God so loved you and He gave His Son Jesus.

We are still in the Easter season and the euphoria is still there. All over social media I see statuses and posts about 'He is risen', but the question is 'Has He risen in your heart?'. Or we are just following the trend lest we be left behind? Or is He only risen during this period and after that we bury Him back in the grave by the kind of lifestyle we live?

Do you truly have this living water of salvation that is a free gift or you're just dry with dead water like the Samaritan woman? Jesus said if you knew the gift of God and who it is that asked you 'Give me to deink', you would have asked of Him and He would give you living water.

Only the living water of Christ can prevent your dryness, why not ask of him today?

Stay Graced...
