Theme: Isaiah 43:18-21 interpreted in relation to Salvation. (Pt 11)
Sub Theme: All will Honour God
Anchor Text: Isaiah 43:20
The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.
Based on our anchor text, we discover that the reason the beast of the field, dragons and the owls would honour God was because He gave waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Like we have established already that the Holy Spirit is the One who causes waters in the wilderness (salvation) and rivers to flow in the desert (Holy Spirit baptism).
These creatures mentioned weren't physical rather they were spiritual entities. They were the demonic forces that try to oppose God's rule on Earth. And in order for God to establish His authority, He needs to make use of human entities as well.
So Jesus gave His disciples a glimpse of how this is to work even though the Holy Spirit had not fully come. He said in Luke 10:19 'Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.'
You see once again that serpents and scorpions are mentioned. This did not refer to the physical creatures rather it referred to spiritual entities. Jesus said He gave them power.
Acts 1:8 says something that shows us that the power is from the Holy Spirit. "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
Jesus said that the disciples were to tread upon these spiritual entities. The Power inside of you which the Holy Spirit supplies gives you that enabling to rule over these entities. Every child of God is supposed to exhibit this authority wherever we find ourselves.
The amount of power we enforce here on Earth before Christ returns is the extent to which the whole of creation gives back honour to God. So Paul said in Romans 8:19 'For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.'
God has given you rivers on your inside, what are you doing with it? Does your action bring all that contacts you (man and beasts) to honour God?
