Spirit Breakfast 🍞☕ 27/6/2019
Theme: Guarding your progress (part 4)
Anchor Text: Nehemiah 4:11-23
Continued from yesterday...
Are human beings our enemies? The answer is yes. This is because certain men have yielded themselves as vessels for Satan and have become enemies. Hence the presence of witches, occultist etc.
However we children of God (Christians) don't see, refer or regard men as our enemies. We must understand that we operate under a higher covenant.
Jesus told James and John when they wanted to call down fire on men who were seemingly enemies of the Master. Scripture says: "But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of." "For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village." (Luke 9:55-56)
If the one whom we follow said His mission is not to destroy men's lives, now why do certain believers feel that has now become our ministry?
Despite the persecutions the early church faced they never prayed against a person. Herod killed James but the church did not raise a prayer for Him to die. He captured Peter and they still didn't pray for Him to die they only prayed for Peter's release.
We must understand that evil men are only instruments used and not the real problem.
This was what Jehu thought of Jezebel that she was the problem. Jehu felt if he killed Jezebel then the children of Israel will return to God. Yet what he didn't understand that Jezebel was not a person but a spirit. That's why the book of Revelation still mentioned Jezebel. Because it was an evil system that had been set in motion and operation.
Many have prayed for certain folks to die and they rejoiced at the obituary of such people yet a good number of them still didn't make progress. This is because the spirit at work that made use of that human instrument is still in existence and functioning.
It is easy for a spirit to find expression through another human being that's yielded hence continuing the cycle of torment. If that continues the question is how many people will you 'kill'? That's why some people keep fighting battles all through life because they are fighting the wrong person.
Hence Paul stated it with certainity that our battle is not with flesh and blood.
Although Israel escaped the man Pharaoh who held them captive in Egypt, they couldn't fully escape the spirit of pharoah which is a spirit of captivity. Hence they kept entering captivity times without number. Pharoah the man died but the principality named the spirit of Pharaoh was still alive and was busy working throughout the history of the Israelites.
I pray that God grants us understanding to realize who our true enemy is so that we can channel appropriate counter attack in the right direction and not to constantly shoot amiss.
