Theme: Coping with Aging Identity (Subjective Aging) (Part 9)

Anchor Text: Psalms 90:12 New Living Translation
Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.

Medicine 1: Discover and Understand your purpose

Jeremiah 1:5
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Your Purpose is simply why you exist. You have a purpose because you were purposefully created. You're not a mistake or just one of the possible outcomes. No God took His sweet time to create you and made you who you are. And in doing that He designed you to accomplish something here on Earth which is your purpose.

Discovering and Understanding your purpose is so important in coping with subjective aging because it allows you see a reason why most of the events in your life were allowed to occur.

A man is designed and shaped by the challenges he faces so that he can effectively fulfil purpose. This is because purpose and design go hand in hand. A refrigerator's purspose is to make items cool. It fulfils this because it is designed and shaped with the right parts to carry out it's purpose.

Joseph the son of Jacob had to learn management and leadership at different stages of his life. First in his father's house, then at Potiphar's house and finally in prison. This set him up effectively to conveniently manage Egypt during it's crisis period and thereby preserving his own family.

Moses had to be sent into exile in the wilderness. For forty years he had to learn the terrains of the wilderness. He learnt how to lead sheep so that in time he would be able to lead Israel out of Egypt through the same wilderness.

A man of purpose knows that nothing in life is an accident. It's either a present blessing or a lesson to learn and utilize wisely.

God told Jeremiah, I already knew you before you got formed in your mother's womb. Your existence was already in God before the creation of time and HE designed you to fulfil a purpose.

This purpose becomes your guide and compass. Through the craziness of life it points you to your destination. That's why I can't and won't settle for anything less than my final destination of purpose.
What about you?

Myles Munroe said "The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without a purpose"
