Topic: Understanding the Gospel Mystery

Text: Ephesians 3:3-5 (New Living Translation)

3:3 As I briefly wrote earlier, God himself revealed his mysterious plan to me.

3:4 As you read what I have written, you will understand my insight into this plan regarding Christ.

3:5 God did not reveal it to previous generations, but now by his Spirit he has revealed it to his holy apostles and prophets.

The Gospel is a mystery. The plan of God to incorporate all of the world into His family feels so strange and incomprehensible.

It's its mysterious nature that warranted it being called the Gospel which by literal translation means "too good to be true news".

This mystery was concealed from the eyes and hearts of those before Jesus' ascension to heaven  and the descent of the Holy Spirit.

The concealing of the mystery is why they couldn't fully grasp what the mystery was: The Divine plan for mankind.

Since the Testator Jesus was alive, the New Testament could not be revealed. And since the Holy Spirit had not descended, the ruach Adonai (breath of God) that gives inspiration couldn't be released.

It was when the two events occurred, then was the veil that shrouded the mystery torn.

The mystery was then handed over to the first generation of Apostles and Prophets to make it known. These men were the custodians of the faith.

Hence, no other gospel can any other man preach no matter how highly spiritual they might claim to be.

The Holy Spirit moved these men to write down the revelations of this mystery in letters.

For us to understand the mystery, we must read that which they have written.

The understanding of the mystery of the Gospel is found in the reading of the letters as illuminated by the Holy Spirit.

Those who fail to comprehend the mystery are those who fail to read the Holy-Writ.

The understanding of the mystery of the Gospel is contained in the revelations of the scriptures. And the only way to uncover them is to read the scriptures.

Have a Graced day.
