Topic: Thy Will be Done

Text: Matthew 6:10
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

The efficiency of every spiritual activity is determined by it's agreement to "God's Sovereign and Perfect Will"

Prayer which is a spiritual tool of connecting to God as well as enforcing God's decree upon the Earth is subject to God's will.

This is why Jesus in the model for prayer said that we must enforce God's Will once we've hallowed His name before asking for anything else.

In other words, it is God's Will that determines even the provisions we receive.

We must understand that there is a general Will of God that has been made known to us through His Word.

Nevertheless, there is a specific Will of God that is revealed to individuals in the place of intimacy.

It is God's general Will that His people won't lack bread so He asked us to ask for our daily bread.

However, God's specific Will for an individual might be to remove the provision of such bread for a season for a purpose.

God never does anything without a purpose.

The life of Apostle Paul is an example of God's Specific Will in the life of an individual over His General Will for everyone.

Paul had a thorn in his flesh which from all scriptural promises was against God's general Will for His children.

However, God had a specific Will that had to be played out in the Apostle's life.

2 Corinthians 12:7-9 has the account of the story.
12:7...So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud.
12:8 Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away.
12:9 _Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. (NLT)

What can we draw from this account?

1. Paul knew God's general Will which was Divine Health for His children.
2. Upon that foundation and knowledge he engaged God in prayer thrice.
3. While in fellowship of communication, God revealed His Specific Will concerning the matter.
4. Instead of taking the thorn away, He gave Him Grace to bear it.
5. The purpose was also revealed:
i. To prevent the Apostle from becoming proud.
ii. To ensure God's Power kept working through the Apostle.

If the Apostle had insisted on his healing, God would have obliged him but He won't be as effective nor successful as we know Paul to be.

As powerful as the prayer of faith is, it is still subject to God's Will.

As we wait in the place of prayer and intimacy during this period, let's ask for God's Specific Will over our lives to be done.

Let's set aside our will and desires and ask in total surrender: "Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done"

Have a Graced day.
