Topic: Look to Jesus
Text: Hebrews 12:2 (Amplified Bible)
Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
At this point where there seems to be a lot of confusion even among believers.
At this time when we do not know who to believe completely and even trust.
At this period where the words of even men we thought were spiritual do not hold much water.
We still have a focal point. We have an anchor. We have a source for which all that we are and will be comes from.
The instruction is still clear and even more important these days. Keep looking unto Jesus.
Let's look away from all that will distract us and try to affect our faith.
Let's look to Jesus for He knows the end from the beginning.
The Greek word translated to "looking" is "aphoraΕ". It can be said to also mean "to consider attentively".
How attentive are we considering the ways, the character, the nature, the teachings of Jesus in this period? This is what determines our faith level.
Consider attentively Jesus who is the Source and the Finisher of our faith and not men.
It's time to fix our eyes back on Him. Look to Jesus and live.
