Topic: Lessons from the Tabernacle during Eli's Time
Text: 1 Samuel 3:1-4 (New Living Translation)
[1]Meanwhile, the boy Samuel served the lord by assisting Eli. Now in those days messages from the lord were very rare, and visions were quite uncommon.
[2]One night Eli, who was almost blind by now, had gone to bed.
[3]The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was sleeping in the Tabernacle near the Ark of God.
[4]Suddenly the lord called out, “Samuel!”“Yes?” Samuel replied. “What is it?”
Introduction
God instructed Moses to construct the Tabernacle as stated in the book of Exodus during Israel's time in the wilderness.
The Tabernacle was to serve as a meeting place for God and the mediators of Israel (Moses and the Priests) (Exodus 29:42-44).
It was to serve as a place where atonement can be made on behalf of individuals and the nation of Israel as a whole.
All these happened during the time of Moses and Joshua. Fast-forward to Eli's time as both judge (the same position of Moses) and High priest, things were different.
In the next few days as God gives us grace, we'll examine the errors of the Tabernacle in the time of Eli and draw out lessons that can be of practical benefit to us in this day and age.
Have a graced day...
