None of these things move me

Text: Acts 20:22-24 (Amplified Bible)
[22]And now, you see, I am going to Jerusalem, bound by the [Holy] Spirit and obligated and compelled by the [convictions of my own] spirit, not knowing what will befall me there–
[23]Except that the Holy Spirit clearly and emphatically affirms to me in city after city that imprisonment and suffering await me.
[24]But none of these things move me; neither do I esteem my life dear to myself, if only I may finish my course with joy and the ministry which I have obtained from [which was entrusted to me by] the Lord Jesus, faithfully to attest to the good news (Gospel) of God's grace (His unmerited favor, spiritual blessing, and mercy).
Eternal circumstances and situations are powerful influences that can alter a person's disposition.
When things seem to be going sideways, when things don't fall into your projected plan, when unforseen events occur, they have the capacity to change our outlook.
However, in our text above, Paul shows us how to react when the odds seemingly are against us.
The Apostle received prophecy after prophecy in each city that he would suffer and be imprisoned at Jerusalem. Despite such fate awaiting him, he knew he had to go because it was what the Holy Spirit wanted.
As a result, Paul declared: "None of these things move me".
The "indomie generation" of believers may not understand this. However, believers who were groomed in the understanding that suffering is also a process in the believers journey glory in such circumstances.
The new breed of believers who believe that faith only gets you out of tough situations do not understand what it means to "glory in tribulations" (Romans 5:3).
A child of God, led by the Holy Spirit is not moved by what he sees or what he hears.
The Apostle understood that he had to go to Jerusalem to complete the mandate he was given when he was called. Even though he had to pass through fire to do so and even lose his life in the process, it had to be done.
He remembered the words of the Master; "He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal." (John 12:25)
"None of these things move me". Can we develop our faith to that point where nothing moves or shakes our faith and confidence in God? This is what God desires from us.
Have a graced day...
